Each depicts girls and boys respectively, who are "born to be awesome," rocking their haircuts and styles in a variety of distinctive ways. Every page shares positive messages to empower children.  As the new year begins, Ways to Welcome by Linda Ashman shows young children the many ways you can welcome anyone to school or into your life. Everything from a simple wave hello to offering a smiling face. This is a beautiful book to add to a classroom library.  Lucy's Mask is a picture book that explains our new normal to young children. It helps kids understand why wearing a mask is important and does it in a playful way. A good one for the start of this school year.  There's Only One You by Kathryn Heling & Deborah Hembrook is a beautiful celebration of individuality and diversity. This a valuable message to share with kids, everyone is different and unique. It is a great addition to my classroom library!  Your Name Song by by Jamilah Thompkins-Bigelow and Luisa Uribe share the beauty, history, and magic behind names. This is a must have for your classroom library especially at the beginning of the school year.  All Around Us is a gentle story that celebrates family, community and the interconnectedness of life. “Circles are all around us. We just have to look for them.” It is available in English and Spanish.  “Each of us is doing something to contribute to the garden.” Love this book by Sonia Sotomayor. ❤️ Her message of the beauty in our diversity and power of acceptance is wonderfully illustrated for young children. It is available in English and Spanish.  Absolutely love The Day You Begin! A great book to show the power in sharing our stories. It is available in both English and Spanish.  |
